Don’t forget your branding NZ

Branding NZ

Brand yourself before others do it for you

Take control of what your business stands for by using effective design to communicate that to your audience. If you don’t others will decide for you.

This is the sign you've been looking for

Your brand is more important than ever. With more and more businesses selling online your visual communication might be your first and only impression with some clients.

Customers may need to see your brand 7 times before they’re ready to take trust you and if you’re branding is different every time they see it that count starts again at 1.

Does your logo + branding connect to your dream client?

Search for your type of business in google and see what comes up. Does your logo and branding differentiate you from your competition? The reality is that if a client is comparing two similar businesses, they will spend their money on the brand that connects more to them. Are you clear on your ideal client? If not, it’s best to do some groundwork before rebranding.

The customer’s perception is your reality

Your Brand is not about you it’s about your client

When should you hire a designer?

  • You’re a new business but you’re really clear about who you serve and you want to hit the ground running.

  • Your business has an online presence but your services have changed and your clients are now a little different. Time for a rebrand NZ! It’s good to review your branding every few years and make sure it still reflects what your dream client is looking for.

  • You like your brand but it just feels a bit dated, perhaps it was a trending idea at the time. So it’s a perfect time for a refresh, If you’re not vibing with your brand then neither are your clients.

  • Your brand files never seem to work when you need them and different file types make your head spin. You go to put your logo on a document and it’s got a clunky white background.

  • You have a logo but you also need some branding elements and maybe a brand pattern.

  • You love your logo but you don’t have a consistent visual identity. A designer can help you bring your logo into a brand identity for your business. Normally the result of this is a style guide which includes logo variations, colours, and typography. Then there are brand elements, patterns and favicons.

When not to hire a designer

  • Do not hire a designer when you’re unclear about what your business does or who it serves. If you’re struggling to nail this down hire a marketing strategist or a business coach first.

  • You’re still struggling to get clients. Hiring a designer is a big investment and you don’t need a fancy brand to get started in your business. DIYing your brand is nothing to be ashamed of when you’re starting out. Choose a font and a colour then be consistent, and keep it simple. When your business has had a few months of a steady income and you know the direction of your business it’s time to hire your favourite designer. AKA me.
