Why I do what I do

To explore and create connections to our past so that we can enjoy a greater connection to our future.

Napier artist, Ngaio Blackwood

Napier Artist - Ngaio Blackwood

I create hand-drawn, stitched and painted art investigating connections between myself and the past.

  • I believe in a world where learning from the past increases our success in the future
  • I think we should embrace our wobbly lines, ignore rulers and let the colours bleed
  • I'm scared that we will never overcome prejudice
  • I want to accept that I'm right where I need to be and that everything will be OK
  • I escape in books
  • I drink coffee to stay awake
  • I saviour chocolate
  • I'm embarrassed that I like romantic comedies

Where to buy my work

I currently have a piece in the back room of The Rabbit Room Gallery in Napier or you can buy directly from my shop
